Maggie Mullen, LCSW, DBT-LBC (they/them)
Maggie Mullen, LCSW, DBT-LBC (they/them) is an international trainer, community activist, and author. They have worked at Kaiser Permanente in Richmond since 2012 on the Clinical Case Management and DBT teams. Maggie specializes in culturally responsive, evidence-based care for psychotic spectrum disorders, DBT and DBT-PE, the LBGTQ+ community, and formerly incarcerated people. They are the author of The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook for Psychosis, a self-help book designed for people experiencing psychosis and their loved ones. They have also published clinical chapters on offering DBT for people experiencing psychosis. Maggie is also a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician™ and trained as a Sex Educator by San Francisco Sex Information.
As a current supervisor and former Training Director at Kaiser Richmond, Maggie takes great pride in mentoring, training, and supervising the next generation of therapists. They consider being a clinical supervisor and educator as one of the best parts of their job. They are committed to helping students provide culturally aligned, evidence-based treatments that center intersectionality. Maggie’s teaching style utilizes humor and irreverence frequently while deeply valuing each student’s strengths.
Maggie has worked as a provider of individual and group therapy, client advocacy, and clinical case management services for racially and economically diverse populations in settings such as non-profits, health care companies, prisons, and county agencies. Maggie received their MSW at the University of California, Berkeley. Their pre-masters experience focused on community activism for criminal justice reform, gender equity, and disability justice.
